Raku firing is an ancient Japanese ceramics technique that dates back to the 16th century. In this captivating process, ceramics are removed from the kiln while still glowing red-hot and placed into a combustible material, such as sawdust or newspaper, which ignites and creates an explosion of colors in the glaze. The result is a stunning array of hues and metallic lusters unique to each piece.
