Class Description:
This weekend art retreat combines several of Donna Downey’s sought after classes into one inspirational weekend that will explore an abundant amount of techniques, supplies, tools and our creative souls! Our welcoming evening consist of dessert and beverages and a chance to meet one another and get our creative juices flowing. Donna will begin by facilitating her workshop “A Life Inspired.” We will learn the basics of color washing, altering fabric and dimensional layering techniques. We will learn to create a unique mixed media layout that will showcase our heartfelt sentiments, and the creativity of your artist within.
Saturday morning we will dive into a hands on exploration of our inner artist as we work together creating our visual legacy. Donna’s very popular workshop “Inspiration Journal: Creating a Visual Diary” promises to challenge you to look at yourself as a creative soul and will encourage artistic growth with each page you complete. We will learn multiple techniques including: painted backgrounds, “drippage”, use of different mediums, image transfer, building in layers, dimentional effects, and journaling techniques.
Sunday is a day to fine tune techniques that we have already learned and continue working on our creative path. We will Learn how and when to use the products we have in our scrap supplies at home to create additional layers of dimension and texture to our journaling, and artistic style. It is also a day to share with other kindred spirits and to be inspired by their work. We will close this three day journey with new friends, new techniques, new inspiration, new goals and perhaps new feelings about ourselves that we just discovered.
About Donna Downey
Donna Downey is a bestselling author, instructor and all-around creative force in the crafting industry. In 2000, she got into scrapbooking as an extension of her paper product and photography addiction. This was only the beginning. From working as a popular columnist for Simple Scrapbooks magazine, to traveling the world inspiring women to push the boundaries of their own creativity, to developing her first fabric scrapbooking line with Prima due out in the Spring of ‘09, Donna is consistently on the leading edge of all things cool related to memory preservation art.
As a craft-media artist, Donna is a born experimenter, blending and transforming both traditional and unexpected items into meaningful pieces of self expression. A former elementary school teacher, she has synthesized her first love of teaching with her passion for craft and brings this to women via workshops at scrapbook stores and events, writing books, and through her popular blog and website.
